April Fools?

I have officially April fools pranked you all by not posting on april fools day. So what do you think of that?
Today I have a very special celebrity match for you. She is someone who is near and dear to all our hearts. She's beautiful and intelligent. We love her. She is.......

Tia Dalma (From Pirates of the Caribbean)

Fitzpleasure by ALT J

Tia Dalma is a crazy person, but in the best way humanly possible. She is full of advice that you could never recognize as good or bad unless you heed it to the fullest. She is nothing shy of natty with those dreads either. This song, "Fitzpleasure" by ALT J is the perfect fit for her and her unique way of life. If you have not seen Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest, then I suggest you stop yourself before you go any longer without it and watch it. It's easily the best of the Pirates series. In this song, ALT J says, "Tall woman pull the pylons down and wrap them around the necks of the feckless men". If Tia Dalma heard those words, I don't think she would hesitate to do so which would make ALT J happy. She is that kind of woman. The overall feel and intensity of this song engulfs Tia. If you haven't heard ALT J's debut album, "An Awesome Wave", you should definitely check it out here.

Hello there everybody (Nobody). Wusssuuuupppppp. Warm weather. mm...
Alrighty time to match some beautiful celebrity faces with some wonderfully great musicccc.

This week's Celebrity Song Match is.......

Clint Eastwood

"Nightcall" by Kavinsky is a very mysterious song in itself. It sounds like a song from a very adult Scooby Doo soundtrack. Clint Eastwood is like an adult Scooby Doo villan. In my opinion Clint is always a hero/good guy but he does often seem scary. In Kavinsky's lyrics, "There's something inside you it's hard to explain, they're talking about you boy, but you're still the same", I see Clint Eastwood written  all over it. There is obviously something insane/messed up/awesome/frog like inside of Clint Eastwood that is truly hard to explain. I can't think of it exactly, but Clint has a very "Nightcall" way about him. People are talking about Clint Eastwood constantly, but does he care? Of course not. He's a big raisin/G.I. Joe that loves to play roles as a shooter/occasionally racist man. He has so much talent. Too much. He'll stay the same if he wants to stay the same. Clint Eastwood wins life. He doesn't get Shin Splints he gets Shin Clints which basically means that the front of his legs get really violent and occasionally act racist. (Clint Eastwood is not racist nor is he violent, but his character in Gran Torino is).

P.s. I was going to use "Clint Eastwood" by Gorillaz as the song at first, but i then noticed how much of a cop out that really is. However, if you would like to listen to that song but don't want to type youtube into the search bar, you can watch it here.

As always, don't forget to check out The Melvin Doo on Facebook and our website and watch out for tour dates/releases. ✌

Hey guys, do you know what time it is?
Well I'm not sure but I think it is time for another celebrity match up....

This weeks match is...........

Lou Ferrigno

                                                                      Simple Man - Graham Nash

Lou Ferrigno is a perfect match for this song because Lou is just a simple guy who happens to be big and huggable. Graham Nash's lyrics, "I just want to hold you, I don't want to hold you down" really hit home for me with Lou. I feel like often times Lou Ferrigno is misunderstood and maybe judged by his appearance and his former role as the incredible hulk. Lou Ferrigno is a great man and a simple one. Graham Nash's album "Songs For Beginners" is amazing. If you don't already have it, I would pick it up today!

Week Two Celebrity Match

Hellooooo there. It's good to be back. It is time for yet another celebrity match! But first, a little musical refreshment...
Here are two songs that I am digging at the moment.

Jacaranda Red - "So Heavy"

Jacaranda Red is a rad local Los Angeles band that rocks pretty hard. This song "So Heavy" is quite the Jam. If you dig you should check out their facebook page and say whatsup. Much respect for Jacaranda Red.

Grateful Dead - "Eyes of the World"

This one here is my FAVORITE live version of "Eyes of the World" by the Grateful Dead (Live at the Cow Palace New Year's eve 1776). Phil Lesh does some excellent bass shredding and it is just all around a great jam. I have a large amount of love for this song. The Melvin Doo (My Band) has played this many times and it always feels good.

With that being said, here is this week's celebrity match!!

Adam Sandler

Gary Clark Jr. - "The Life"

First off, Gary Clark Jr. is THE MAN which is partially why I chose this song for mr. Sandler. His debut album "Blak & Blu" is awesome. If you like blues or The Black Keys you will love Gary Clark Jr.. This song talks about a day in the life of Gary and the "Life" that he lives. The chorus, "This is the life, life, life, life, the life", always reminds me of Adam Sandler because often times Adam Sandler plays roles in movies where the character truly has the "life". Many times I have seen Sandler in movies with nice cars, money, extremely attractive female companions, love and many other ridiculous luxuries. Just Go With It, Grown Ups, Billy Madison, and Click are just a few examples. Sandler started his career just out of college when he was very young blasting himself directly into stardom. Adam Sandler is always the protagonist that wins in the end. It seems to me that he truly lives "the life".
